"Flowers for Ali"
This painting was done in honor of my 6-year old cousin Alison. Going through her stages, she reminds me of a young thorny cactus, prickly and untouchable, but a sight to behold when it flowers! Just a child now, Ali will blossom into a beautiful and colorful young woman, sensitive to her surroundings. Like a desert cactus in full bloom, she energizes oneÂs senses to all that God has created!
The title for this piece is reminiscent of my favorite childhood book, ÂFlowers for Algernon. A mentally disabled Charlie seeks super-knowledge and becomes friends with an extra clever laboratory mouse, Algernon. ÂI dint feel bad because I watched Algernon and I lernd how to finish the maze, even if it takes me a long time. This painting, like many I have done, has taken me a long time to finish, because I put love into it!
