Dream No. 10,336

Many people remember some of their dreams. I remember most of mine! This painting was inspired by my 10,336 dream (counting the days from my birth ‘til now). I dreamt about dancing with a female friend, having innocent fun and friendly conversation.

Indicative of a dream, the figures in the painting are neutral, similar to the background colors, and have an almost renaissance look. The hairless heads add to the ‘hazy memory’ of my dream. Often times in my figure drawing, I do not use hair because I personally enjoy painting the form of the human body. In may attempt to create a ‘dream-like’ feeling on the canvas, I used a new ‘signature’ painting technique…after applying the earth tone acrylic colors, I used a spray bottle and saturated the canvas with water, letting the acrylic paint drip and then dry. While sitting in my truck one evening, watching the rain ‘drip’ down my windshield, I was inspired to try this unique method.
